PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS Foreign System Schools, or International Schools, offer you the opportunity to pursue an education similar to the one in your country of origin. Registered with the Ministry of Education, they follow guidelines and curriculum identical to those in their home country. Some schools focus on a bi-cultural education and environment while others try to enact the same kind of environment similar to their home countries education. Each private school conducts its own admission/enrolment exercises and interested students should make enquiries with us directly. As there is a wide variety of programmes offered by private schools, it is more practical for these programmes and their quality to be subject to the test of the market. The various efforts by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE), SPRING Singapore and the industry will also ensure better standards as well as to protect the interests of students. Estimated starting end of 2009, the government has passed a new set of regulations on Mar2009 which would further enhance quality private education sector. Students should then choose institutions which are awarded EduTrust certification. CaseTrust for Education Scheme The CaseTrust for Education scheme has been customised specifically by CASE to enhance the confidence of foreign students and their parents in ensuring that there are protection of student fees, transparency in transactions and fair contractual terms in our private schools in Singapore. Singapore Quality Class (SQC) for PEO Scheme There is also the Singapore Quality Class (SQC) for PEO scheme to recognise PEO that have attained a commendable level of business excellence based on the Singapore Quality Award (SQA) framework and requirements in the private education sector. The scheme is administered by SPRING Singapore EduTrust for instituion fA new Council for Private Education will also be set up to oversee the regulatory framework. In addition, a new body Council for Private Education is set up to investigate and take action against errant private schools. The enhanced registration framework seeks to address existing industry problems relating to poor administration, misrepresentation and even “selling” of qualifications and it would be renewable at regular intervals of between one to six years ADMISSION CRITERIA & FEES As private schools offer various courses from different international universities from the US, UK, Australia etc, hence it would be advisable to speak to us directly for more information. INSTITUTIONS As there are too private institutions to be listed and we recommend prospective students the most suitable course to undertake according to the students background, hence the course title with the countries that are awarding the certificate would be listed instead.
